Triumph of Humanity in the Poetry of Jalaluddin Rumi and Kazi Nazrul Islam: A Humanistic Perspective
Abstract
This article aims to explore the humanistic vision in the poems of Jalaluddin Rumi and Kazi Nazrul Islam, focusing on the concept of a “triumph of humanity.” It examines how each poet’s verses celebrate universal compassion, love, and equality as ultimate human virtues. By applying humanism theory, the study conducts a comparative literary analysis of selected Rumi ghazals and Nazrul poems, highlighting how each poet invokes human solidarity across cultural divides. The research involves a qualitative review of primary texts (English translations). The analysis shows that Rumi’s Sufi mysticism and Nazrul’s revolutionary egalitarianism both assert human dignity as supreme. Ultimately, the paper identifies underexplored intersections in their work and argues that their poetry’s affirmation of humanity continues to inspire in contemporary contexts.
