Core Activities & Initiatives

Industry Exposure

Corporate & Factory Visits

Regularly organised visits to banks, manufacturing companies and corporate offices — giving students a firsthand look at how real organisations run their operations, finance, and people management. Recent visits include the Industrial Tour to Sajeeb Group, where students observed manufacturing operations, supply chain systems and corporate management practice at first hand.

Skill Development

Hands-on Software Workshops

Specialized training sessions on industry-standard business tools including Excel, Power BI, SPSS and accounting software, ensuring students are analytics-ready before they graduate. Recent sessions include a hands-on SPSS workshop covering data preparation, descriptive statistics and the inferential tests most used in business research.

Career Guidance

Seminars with Industry Experts

Frequent seminars featuring business leaders and corporate experts that provide insights into local and international job markets — banking, FMCG, consulting, and the public sector. Recent seminars include “Fit for Career”, led by M. Abdullah Al Mamun, Assistant Professor and PhD fellow at a university in Malaysia.

Competition

Business Case Competitions

Students form teams to analyse real business problems and pitch strategies before panels of judges at intra-university and national case competitions, sharpening analytical and presentation skills. Events such as Business Adda 2024 bring students, alumni and faculty together to exchange ideas on business, careers and campus life.

Community

Co-curricular Engagement

Beyond professional skills — indoor games, cultural programs and study tours that foster a well-rounded university experience and strong bonding between batches. The Department lifted the trophy at the SU Inter-Department T-10 Cricket Tournament.

Recognition

Awards & Industry Recognition

Club teams have been recognised at national business case competitions and entrepreneurship summits — recognitions earned through active participation, collaboration, and academic excellence. Imran, a student of the Department, won the Inter-University Single Table Tennis Tournament organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Building a Professional Network

The Business Club community serves as a bridge between current students and the SU Alumni — creating an active professional network that opens doors to internships, job placements, and lifelong mentorship across the business industry.
