Part 01

What it is and why skills

This is a skills-based scholarship competition for Sonargaon University's Spring 2027 admission. Usually a waiver comes only with a good GPA. Here the scholarships go to the students with the best communication, reasoning, teamwork and problem-solving skills.

Students who have completed admission take an online exam on the scholarship.su.edu.bd portal. The best in each program then sit a viva on campus. The portal works out the final total out of 100, and up to 3 winners are chosen in each program.

What "admitted first" means

Students who were admitted early for Spring 2027, credit-transfer students and students with a result-based waiver can all take part.

Students admitted in any earlier semester cannot take part.

Does GPA matter?

GPA carries no marks in the scholarship. The minimum admission requirements still apply.

  • The exam is only on the scholarship.su.edu.bd portal; you log in with your Student ID and an OTP.
  • Each student can take the exam only once; nothing can be changed after the final submission.
  • Both admission and the final exam submission must be done by 11:59 pm on 1 March 2027.
  • At the start of the exam you agree to camera monitoring, to being responsible for your internet connection and to the rules on AI use.
  • All exam guidelines are on the portal in Bangla and English.
  • Portal safeguards: copying text is blocked; the student's ID shows as a watermark on the screen; questions are shuffled and every set is equally hard.

Part 04

  1. 0

    No relevant answer

  2. 1

  3. 2

  4. 3

  5. 4

Clear, well reasoned and with your own examples

Teachers mark only the video and the writing (40 marks); the portal gives the 30 marks for MCQ and ranking itself. Every criterion is marked on a 0–4 scale, and a written reason for each mark is required. Teacher marking goes on every week.

Part 06

What does not count

  • GPA or academic results

They carry no share of the marks.

  • Accent, camera quality or clothes

You can answer in either language, Bangla or English.

  • Votes or likes on social media

They play no part in the marks.

Part 07

Marking without names, totals by the portal

Teachers do not see names

  • The video and writing are marked by an assigned teacher from the relevant department.
  • The teacher sees only the application number, not the student's name.
  • They give a written reason for every mark.

No adding up by hand

  • The portal itself works out the 70 + 30 = 100 marks and the merit list; nothing is added up by hand.
  • Each program is a separate competition; students of all 22 programs are not put on one merit list.

Part 08

If marks are tied

  1. 1

    Extracurricular certificates

The student with certificates goes ahead; the originals are checked at the viva.

  2. 2

    The viva's "on-the-spot problem solving"

If still tied, the marks for this part.

  3. 3

    Written problem solving

If still tied after that, the marks for the written part.

Part 09

The LLB program

The Law Department's LLB program has one scholarship: the first-place student gets a semester fee waiver only. LLB has no fully funded scholarship or tuition fee waiver; this rule does not apply to LLM. So the 22 semester fee waivers include the LLB first-place student.

  • The scholarship runs for the whole length of the program, subject to the conditions below.
  • Accommodation and meals are not included.
  • Students who are not selected carry on studying at the regular fees, under the waiver rules that apply to them.

Part 10

Keeping the scholarship

Minimum in every semester

CGPA 3

This condition applies to winners at all three levels.

If your CGPA is below 3 in any semester, the scholarship does not apply in the next semester and you pay that semester's fees:

You must also keep the minimum attendance and discipline that university rules require.

Part 11

Ambassador role

  • For the whole length of their program, winners represent the university at their own college and in their own area as SU Future Leader ambassadors; the details of the role will be in the award letter.
  • Ambassador work will not be given during class or exam times.
  • Written consent to use the winner's name, photo, video and success story in publicity will be taken in the award letter.

Part 12

More for winners

  • A chance to be an ambassador

The chance to represent SU at your own college and in your own area throughout your program.

  • Leading clubs and events

The 64 winners can take the lead in 28 clubs and in university events.

  • Transparent selection

Selection through the portal, approved by the Board of Trustees.

  • Credit for extracurriculars

Recognition for students active in sports, debating and organisations; in a tie, students with certificates go ahead.

Part 13

Rules and what is not allowed

Not allowed

  • Getting someone else to do your MCQ, ranking, writing or video.
  • A face, voice or avatar made with AI in the video.
Using AI
You may use AI in the written part, but you must declare it when you submit; declaring it will not cost you any marks.
False information
A fake certificate or false information goes to the Academic Committee; if it is proven, the scholarship can be cancelled.
Internet connection
Your internet connection is your responsibility; the timer keeps running even if the connection drops.
Fairness
No one is removed only because the software suspects them; the Academic Committee makes the final decision.
Conflict of interest
A teacher who is related to a student, or has a direct interest, steps aside from marking.
Withdrawal
If a student leaves the program, the scholarship ends; it cannot be passed on to anyone else.

Part 14

Two teacher references and certificates

2

References from two academic teachers

Required. For each teacher, give:

  • Name
  • Designation
  • College
  • Phone
  • Email

6

Extracurricular certificates

  • If you have certificates, submit them on the portal (up to 6), with details of the competition.
  • The originals are checked at the viva.
  • In a tie, students with certificates go ahead.

Part 15

The Board of Trustees decides

In any dispute, the Board of Trustees' decision, on the Academic Committee's recommendation, is final.

Part 16

A note on policy changes

Note: the university management may change, amend or refine any policy at any time.
